FASTSORB
Polyglycolic Acid (PGA)
Fastsorb – Fast Absorbable Octoplasty and Orbita surgical suture is a synthetic, sterile and absorbable surgical suture made from the homopolymer of glycolic acid. Fastsorb, which has a gradient polyglycolic acid (PGA) structure, has the empirical formula (-O-CH₂-co-)n and the polymer chain decays in a controlled manner by gamma-ray. Fastsorb, which is safely used in oculoplasty and orbital surgery, is coated with coating material consisting of a mixture of calcium stearate (CǒHǒOǒCa) and polycaprolactone (CǒHǒO₂). Both the thread and the coating material are inert, collagen-free, antigenic and non-pyrogenic, ensuring maximum adhesion to the tissue. Fastsorb, which is a natural beige color, provides fast absorption and reliable performance in sensitive eye circumference surgeries.
