Silk – Non-Absorbable Brain and Neurosurgery Suture is a sterile, non-absorbable surgical suture made from a natural protein polymer called fibroin. Obtained from the Bombyx mori silkworm of the Bombisida family, this special suture is known for its high tissue compatibility and reliable knotting ability. Available in black hematein dye or natural ivory, surgical silk is coated with silicone or paraffin for soft and easy handling during surgical procedures. It is available in braided form in USP 7/0 and larger gauges, and in twisted or braided forms in 7/0 and 8/0 gauges.

Silk sutures, manufactured in specialized sizes and specifications for neurosurgery, are a frequently preferred, high-performance option in neurosurgery. They are ideal for stabilizing soft tissues and suturing delicate nerve structures during neurosurgical procedures performed under a microscope. Manufactured in accordance with US and European Pharmacopeia standards, these sutures are safely used in many delicate surgical specialties, including cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological surgery.
